Talk About Blyton!

Naughtiest Girl – Would Elizabeth and Julian have married?

June 21, 2015 – Kathy says: I would be delighted! But hey! No one invited me to the wedding.
March 5, 2016 – Nandini says: Hehe! that's a sweet possibility. Don't worry, no one invited me either!
July 10, 2016 – Evie Hamada says: Of course they would have married! I'm currently rereading the books. I think they're really cute together.
July 13, 2016 – Paul Austin says: A lot of people have neglected since the feminist 1970s, the proper use of "Mrs." If Elizabeth married Julian, by Blyton-era custom and law she would be "Mrs. Julian Holland". The usage "Mrs. Elizabeth Allen" in Blyton's day was for divorced women, although as I said, most women today neglect this, outside of wedding invitations.
November 10, 2018 – Joanna says: What would they have named their children? Also would any one marry Arabella Buckly.
November 12, 2018 – Paul Austin says: Isn't Arabella Buckley rich? That would be a great way of attracting romance. Money makes the world go round, after all.
November 15, 2018 – Joanna says: Would you marry that hoity toity snip, Paul?
November 15, 2018 – Paul Austin says: I'm disabled, Joanna. Most disabled people do not get married.
Daisy says... Daisy says: That's rather a negative comment, Paul. Many disabled people get married!
November 16, 2018 – Joanna says: Paul my husband is a paraplegic he has been in a wheelchair for nigh on 30 years. We have a very happy and fufilling relationship. He just hates it when I rabbit on about EB books.
November 17, 2018 – Peter says: There are so many disabilities - some caused through trauma, others pathological. To say most disabled don't marry is absurd. What is your disabilty, Paul?
November 17, 2018 – Paul Austin says: Paralysed left side including left half of my face (so I dribble) and legally blind in left eye, Asperger's syndrome, narrowed esophagus from repaired esophageal atresia, epilepsy.
February 22, 2021 – Deepa says: I do hope they did get married. Best friends make an amazing couple. And they understand each other very well without talking. In fact, they could have been in a relationship in school, but it was not explicitly mentioned by Blyton. Instead she gave us clues. A lot of clues do hint that.
October 22, 2021 – Madeline says: Ooh, which clues? I thought it was adorable that Julian was jealous of Elizabeth and Patrick in the 10th book - but that wasn't written by Blyton (it's unfortunate that she only wrote 3). Which clues were you thinking of?
October 21, 2022 – No 1 fan says: Yes Julian was totally jealous of Elizabeth and Patrick.
August 23, 2023 – emma says: I just love this, Julian x Elizabeth a lot.
January 7, 2024 – Joan Townsend says: I can imagine them sending off their own children to Whyteleafe!
February 23, 2024 – Anonymous says: I think Julian and Elizabeth would be amazing!
March 9, 2024 – Mark Taha says: I can see Arabella growing up to be Angela Favorleigh of St Clare's. Elizabeth and Julian might have got married but how long would they have been able to put up with each other? I found his treatment in the book thoroughly nasty- especially William's unpleasant strictures to a boy of about eleven!
