St Clare's – Anne-Marie's poetry

April 7, 2016 – Sarayu says: Posting here after ages :) What do all of you think about the quality of Anne-Marie's poems? Do you think they're good, bad or average? At any rate, Miss Willcox was too harsh with her. Passions and dreams of students should not be nipped in the bud.
April 11, 2016 – Evie Hamada says: I think they're not bad at all : -) and I agree, Miss Wilcox was WAY too mean to her.
April 12, 2016 – Sarayu says: I'm no poetess, but even I thought that these poems weren't bad. In fact, for a fifth-former, the poems were quite well written.
July 16, 2017 – Avan N. Cooverji says: The poems of Anne-Marie are not such rubbish as they are made out to be. This was her way of expressing herself, even if she did it for self glorification. At least there was some effort on her part to write something. Who knows what it can lead to, it may bring an end to many an exasperation or to everyone's great surprise, it may even lead to something worthwhile written one day. After all have we not read the lines in a poem " those who came to scoff remained to pray"?
July 19, 2017 – Avan N. Cooverji says: Would Anne-Marie write something like this? And what would Miss Willcox say to that? ---------- When life's dreary charm overtakes me, And nothing makes sense any more, When lakes and hills seem all the same, Where O where can I go! The babbling brook no longer runs, The streams have all dried up , The country mill has stopped its grind, And sorrow has filled my cup. My very own have left me, My kith and kin know me not, And shadows are all that is left now, For that is my sad sad lot. Life is but a dream that passes away, And nothing remains the same, The trees and mounts have lost their glow, I must go whence I came.
